Pfannenberg Signaling Expert to Speak About Crane Safety at AIST Crane Symposium

Pfannenberg, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of thermal management and signaling technologies, announces that Audible & Visual Signaling Product Specialist Jake Vernon will present on the topic of Crane Safety at the 26th AIST Crane Symposium, to be held June 2-4, 2019, at the Seelbach Hilton, in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

Mr. Vernon’s speech will focus on signaling confusion in loud steel making environments. Mr. Vernon will provide an introduction on the science of sound and how it travels, including the concepts of frequency and amplitude, as well as an analysis of the steel making sound environment and crane safety topic.

He will then discuss ways to make signaling safer for personnel and machines, including use of such products as Pfannenberg PATROL®Series and PYRA® Series Flashing Light Sounders.

 

PATROL Series Flashing Sounders offer 80 pre-programmed alarm tones with 4 stages for distinctive signaling of specific events, such as conveyor start-up/stop, material jam, machine fault, and gas detection. Higher frequency tones prove safer for steel making, while other audible and visual signaling cues may lead to confusion.

Rugged PYRA Flashing Light Sounders emit extremely bright alarm flashes of up to 15 Joules.  Selectable flash frequency, optional control input flash activation, and separate visual and acoustic signal controls make them a good choice for crane safety in loud steel making environments.

Pfannenberg will highlight their advanced Pfannenberg Kinetic System™ Series Air to Air Heat Exchangers for removing heat from VFD control panels at booth 561 at the 2019 EASA Convention in Las Vegas, NV, held from June 30th to July 2nd.

Perfect Solution for VFD control panels Cooling

Pfannenberg’s PKS Series Air to Air Heat Exchangers use a revolutionary next generation cooling technology (Pfannenberg Kinetic System™) to remove heat from VFD control panels while preventing ingress of contaminants into the enclosures. These environmental parameters within the VFD cabinet, temperature and dust, could determine the service life of the VFD.

A VFD running at 18°F above its recommended ambient temperature could lose up to 50% of its expected service life. Industrial air conditioners are typically the go-to solution for cooling VFDs and other critical electronics housed in sealed enclosures. However, a cooler ambient environment could also be used to help control the temperature within the cabinet. Lightweight and easy to install, the PKS technology takes advantage of a cooler ambient environment to remove heat from within the enclosures while sealing against gas, humidity, and dust. The patented technology, unlike industrial air conditioners, does not utilize a refrigerant cycle that has a high energy consuming compressor, making it more efficient to operate from a uptime reliability and energy savings standpoint.

PKS Series Air to Air Heat Exchangers are designed for indoor (NEMA Type12), outdoor (NEMA Type 3R), and washdown (NEMA Type 4X) applications that require protection from harsh ambient conditions.

They are also ideal for keeping water and dust from sensors and drives on outdoor systems, and protecting against corrosion and contamination in the food and beverage industry.

Pfannenberg and People Inc. Partnership

In 2017, a partnership between Pfannenberg and People Inc. was developed. People Inc. works with Businesses to employ individuals with developmental disabilities to secure and maintain meaningful work.

Today, this partnership provides work opportunities for six People Inc. employees who are part of the Pfannenberg’s family and are working on our Filterfans® line.  In addition Pfannenberg also provides work for 10 employees at the People Inc. location in Depew.

A few days ago, Pfannenberg was delighted to receive a testimonial from People Inc. stating the impact Pfannenberg has on People Inc. workers. Ken Levan, Business Service Manager at People Inc. states :“Workers have had a chance to learn and develop new skills, which are unlike anything they have learned before. These new skills have led to increased confidence in everyone involved, as well as an even greater desire to learn. One employee, in particular, works three days per week at Pfannenberg.
